Humane TNR for Community Cats: Creating SOPS for Best Practices

Backstory and Inspiration

TNR is a passion of mine that stems from seeing the amount of healthy community cats and kittens euthanized in my area. I found this practice needless, an ineffective population control method and devastating to shelter staff. I did TNR independently in my community for three years prior to moving out of the area. I provided education, traps and transportation to and from the spay/neuter clinic. I trapped in areas where veterinary care was inaccessible due to cost. After taking classes through the UF Shelter Medicine program, I started questioning my own operations and became interested in finding the best practices that I could implement myself to make an even bigger impact in the lives of my local community cats and their caretakers.
